PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure that the educational needs of children who are residents of the Heartland Youth Village are met and that they become independent learners and achieve their full potential.
|
To advise educators, Heartland staff and families regarding the needs of each student.
|
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions, including de-escalation strategies, to ensure the safety of students and staff.
|
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.
|
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs and learning styles of each student.
|
To assess the educational needs of learners as well as gather data to determine learner needs, measure learner progress, guide instruction and intervention and provide timely feedback to learners, families, and staff.
|
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction and meet student needs.
|
To use professional knowledge to address the needs of the diverse/exceptional learner population, while demonstrating respect for individual differences, cultures, and learning needs.
|
Evaluate student’s academic, behavioral, and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports on a regular basis.
|
Communicate with students, parents and Heartland staff through conferences and other means to discuss progress and interpret the school program.
|
Identify students' needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students
|
Maintain professional competence through professional staff development activities provided by the district, Heartland Youth Village and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
|
Participate collaboratively with administrators in the evaluation process.
|
Selects Select and requisition instructional materials; maintain required inventory records.
|
Administer assessments in accordance with the district assessment program.
|
Participate in curriculum development programs as required, including physical education activities.
|
Participate in faculty meetings, team meetings, departmental meetings, committees as assigned.
|
Employ a variety of instructional techniques, strategies and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
|
Implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
|
Accept responsibility for appropriate utilization of and the care of equipment, materials and facilities.
|
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
|
Assist in enforcing administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
|
Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and strategies.
|
Promote positive public relations with parents, Heartland Youth Village staff and other members of the community-at-large.
|
Assign tasks for which students have a high probability of success and expect all students to make reasonable progress.
|
Provide guidance to pupils which will promote their welfare and educational development.
|
Implement authentic instruction, and continuous assessment.
|
Demonstrate effective positive interpersonal and communication skills, with students, parents and staff.
|
Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
|
Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
|
Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified Personnel 16 KAR 1:020
|
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
|
Create a culture of open communication, trust, and passion to excavate the gifts of students.
|
Establish processes, ecosystems, and strategies to help students unite people, place, and purpose.
